Welcome back Lakers! Now that the Career Fair is over and interviews are underway, the next obstacle is the follow up… scary I know. Follow-ups are really important and here is why: 1. Peace of mind- if not for them, than do it for you. You can rest easy knowing you took the extra step to keep that line of communication opened, this shows the employers you are interested in the job outside of just submitting your resume and interviewing. 2. It gives you a leg up- in a competitive job market; extra steps like this is key and may give you the advantage you need to score the job. All it takes is for one applicant to set the bar for the employer follow up expectation, so take the risk, you would rather be safe you did than sorry you didn’t. 3. It can move things along or give you closure. I know a lot of you have or will be interviewing for more than one company, maybe some your more interested in than others. Maybe you have a job offer from one and haven’t heard from the others. This is where a follow up may help get the ball rolling with the job you haven’t heard back from or give you that satisfaction that you put your best foot forward but the position was already filled. Those are my tips for the week, Have a Happy Halloween!
