Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and Space X and Chairman of SolarCity, recently did an interview with Business Insider about how he knows when people lie on their résumés. Elon Musk is the wealthiest person in Los Angeles and is known for his innovativeness and his contribution to advancements in futuristic technology. Musk says that he learned how to build rockets by reading books and talking to people. He also explains that you truly understand the problems in which you struggle with. “Anyone who struggled hard with a problem never forgets it.” Musk uses this in interviews because he knows that if someone really answered the problem, they will be able to explain how they solved it on multiple levels.
So when going in for an interview, make sure everything on your résumé is accurate. In addition, be prepared to give examples of problems that you have solved and be sure to learn from your struggles! See the full interview here.
