GM and other automakers are branching out into mobility services as a way to protect themselves from projected declines in vehicle ownership. They are finding new opportunities to market their vehicles outside their traditional customer base while creating additional revenue streams. Cadillac is creating a program to show off their lineup with an alternative to ownership. It is a $1,500 a month membership that provides access to Platinum versions suits a customer's needs at the time. The service is only offered in New York so that they can analyze use patterns and ensure a high level of service.
Cadillac quickly filled its first group of membership slots and they already have a waiting list for the program, which covers all taxes and insurance. Increasing awareness of the products for GM without having to buy expensive commercials could be a huge breakthrough for GM.
